SWIMMING: Busy week for Dunstable SC

Dunstable SC swimmers were kept incredibly busy last weekend as they took part in three different events.

The club sent some members to the Natalie Barry Open Meet at Bletchley Leisure centre, while Sam and Billy Mead attended the Wycombe Long Course Open and Ellie King competed the Lincoln Vulcans in Sheffield.

Sam and Billy Mead competed at the Wycombe Long Course Open and achieved some fabulous results.

In the 10-11years category, Billy won the 200m freestyle in a PB of 3.12.36mins, while he also came second in three events: the 50m butterfly (52.62secs, PB), 100m backstroke (1.37.29mins, PB) and 200 IM (3.44.40mins, PB and new club record).

He also went in the 50m backstroke, clocking 44.19secs, a PB but received a speeding ticket.

Sam set club records in the 13-year-old events, the 200m freestyle (2.29.75mins, PB), 200m IM (2.49.55mins, PB) and 50m butterfly (35.36secs, PB), receiving a speeding ticket in all three.

He also won the 100m butterfly in a PB of 1.24.94mins, while finishing second in both the 100m backstroke (1.23.39mins, PB) and 50m backstroke (38.83secs), setting club records in both.

Finally Ellie King swam at the Lincoln Vulcans Meet as she had entered to chase national qualifying times and only just missed them.

However she did achieve some new PBs, one of which was the 200m backstroke, where she clocked 2.23.26mins – a new club record.

She also beat her best in the 100m freestyle with 1.00.81mins, a new club record, plus swum a new club record in the 100m backstroke (1.06.39mins, PB) and completed the 50m freestyle in 28.09secs.
