SWIMMING: Palmer excels at Hemel meet

Putteridge SC competed at the Hemel Hempstead Birthday Open Level 2 Meet recently.

The Senior Sprint Performance Squad were seeking to achieve their ASA Winter National Qualification times for the National event in December.

Lawrence Palmer clocked the fastest 50m breaststroke time in Great Britain this year and the fourth fastest ever time, plus winning gold in both the 100m breaststroke and 100 IM, both National Qualifying times.

Ryan Compton swam a 12 second PB on his way to gold in the 200m breaststroke, while Leone Crick picked up double gold with PBs in the 50m and 100m backstroke.

Lauren Simpkins went in the 50m and 100m freestyle, plus the 50m backstroke, coming away with two golds and a silver, as Joe Murray competed in eight events with PBs and medals of every colour.

Jordan Batson took silver in the 100m breaststroke and 100m IM, plus bronze in the 50m breaststroke, achieving two National Qualifying times.

Brandon Nabarro won gold in the 200m IM, along with silvers in the 100m IM (PB) and 50m breaststroke, earning National Qualifying times too.

All are now set to compete in two weeks’ time at the Winter East Region Championships at Inspire.
