TEN-PIN: Record haul for Dunstable

Over 400 of the country’s best bowlers descended on GoBowling, Dunstable, last month to take part in the South Of England Junior Open.

A strong team from Dunstable’s Youth Bowling Club took to the lanes with high hopes, especially as they were playing in their home bowling centre.

The youngsters had been practicing hard with the help of the coaches and their efforts were rewarded with a record of haul of 25 trophies.

Houghton Regis’ Lorna Scott cleaned up, winning four trophies, while Jonathan Bentley (Dunstable) picked up three, with Ria Hunter from Sundon Park claiming one, as did Luton’s Kyle Chapman and Remy Bader from Slip End.

The other winners for the club were Lewis Carden, Oliver Elliott, Toni Melton, Austin Taylor, Ki Leighfield and Megan Carden.

Dunstable Youth Bowling club also used the tournament to raise some much-needed funds totalling £1,200 via tombolas and raffles, to allow them compete in more tournaments around the country.
