Unbeaten men edge to victory

UNBEATEN Luton Town men continued their excellent start to the season as they remained on top of the East Men’s League Division 3SW with a 3-2 home victory over Royston.

Luton’s Cameron Sarrington scored the first goal early on after being set up by Bryn Owen, but Royston equalised.

Sarrington added his second of the match shortly afterwards, but the visitors again hit back to make it 2-2 at half time.

After the break, the match became a much closer encounter and after fine work from Sarrington, Garry Newman hit the winner.

Town ladies were beaten 1-0 by Bishop’s Stortford IIs in their Five Counties Premier Division clash.

With only 11 players available, and a number of newcomers, Town battled well but slipped to a single goal defeat. The joint player of the match award went to youngsters Ella Dagnham and Louisa Essam.

Luton ladies IIs went down to a 3-0 loss to Bishop’s Stortford IIIs in Five Counties Division Five.

Town had plenty of chances to score, but were frustrated by the woodwork as goalkeeper Kerry Walsh had a great game, while Rachel Gibb was named player of the match.

A thrilling East Men’s League Division 9SW match saw Luton IVs fight back from 3-0 down to draw 3-3 with Berkhamsted. Luton, pictured in action above, trailed with just 10 minutes remaining only for Grant Homann, Will Smith and Chris Madden to earn their side a share of the spoils.
