The first of their four albums – Costello Music – sold more than one million copies in the UK alone, while the lads have enjoyed a string of Top 10 hits, their most famous being Chelsea Dagger.

The Fratellis follow in the footsteps of Razorlight and Scouting for Girls last year.

2014 saw the Happy Mondays headline while Toploader and The Hoosiers were among the big attractions in 2013.

The Feeling headline in 2012 and 2011 saw The Lightning Seeds play at the festival.

Organisers have been delighted that another big name in music will play at this year’s event.

“This is another great coup for AmpRocks – we are absolutely thrilled to welcome a group of The Fratellis’ stature to Ampthill,” said AmpRocks chairman, Mark Tiana.

“Our aim every year is to improve on last year and we are in negotiations with an exciting range of acts that will appeal to both young and old - the full line-up will be revealed soon.”

The first tranche of tickets for AmpRocks 2016 sold out online in just 22 minutes after going on sale last month.

The arena capacity inside Ampthill Park has also been increased to 6,000 this year to cope with growing demand following 5,000 sell-outs for the past two years.

People are recommended to book tickets for the event as soon as possible for the gig.

The next batch of tickets - priced £25 – go on sale on amprocks.eventbrite.co.uk and are available now.
