Summer Season is perfect start for youngsters

There’s no time like the present to get your children involved in the performing arts – and Dunstable’s Grove Theatre has a cracking summer season coming up with plenty to keep the littlies entertained.

They’re kicking off with the swashbuckling Pirates of Treasure Island, who wash ashore at Easter.

Blending the best of pantomime, story telling and musical theatre, this stellar production features Edele Lynch from B*Witched and Sid Sloane of CBeebies.

Another CBeebies star, Tree Fu Tom, takes to the stage in May for his first nationwide tour.

Young theatre-goers can follow Tom, Twigs, Ariela and friends on an action-packed adventure through the magical world of Treetopolis to catch the mischievous Mushas.

Mini luvvies will also adore Aliens Love Underpants, the zany and hilarious tale based on the best-selling children’s book by Claire Freedman and Ben Cort.

Then there’s the annual Grove Production Project, The Wizard of Oz. A talented cast of aspiring young locals and technical team will stage a musical proudction of the much-loved classic in August.

For us oldies there’s music – Magic of Motown, the Sensational 60s and Solid Gold 70s, to name but three great shows – and laughs aplenty with the inimitable Jasper Carrott, Mock the Week’s Milton Jones and brand new comedy Sex in Suburbia.

There’s also a series of live screenings from the National Theatre and Royal Shakespeare Company and the summer film season.
