Poet John Hegley presented signed copies of his poetry book to competition winners at Ashcroft High School on Friday, January 29.

Year 8 pupils Olivia Chaudhari (pictured), Sumayya Hanif and Nadia Hussain won the competition and were given their prizes by the poet comedian who grew up in Luton. The students had written a sonnet, war poem or a narrative poem for the competition.

The students were treated to a performance of one of John’s poems.

Sue Yates, Leanring Resource Centre Manager, said: “John is a true member of the Ashcroft family and it was so good of him to deliver the books in person.”
