The Hatters took the lead inside 10 minutes when Kynan Isaac guided a header home following Alex Wall’s flick-on.

Town then doubled their lead when captain Alex Lacey headed home unchallenged in the six-yard box.

Half-time substitute Charlie Walker twice went close to making the game safe, once with a volley that flew narrowly over, but moments later the Bees pulled one goal back.

As the game entered the final quarter of an hour, the visitors levelled in fine style with an acrobatic over-head kick from just inside the penalty area giving goalkeeper Elliot Justham no chance.

Justham kept the Bees at bay as the game drew to a close before Walker just failed to connect with Ross Lafayette’s lay-off.

Town first team coach Hakan Hayrettin told the offical club website lutontown.co.uk: “We have high standards at this club but the second half performance was not up to the standard that we expect.

“We were sloppy and that gave Barnet the impetus to go on and get some from a game.

“We got ourselves in a good position to lead 2-0 so it is very disappointing that we did not win the game.”
