Luton's valiant comeback was in vain as they fell to a 3-2 defeat at West Bromwich Albion on Saturday. After Kal Naismith put through his own net early on, Callum Robinson and Karlan Grant made it 3-0 to the hosts, before late goals from Harry Cornick and Pelly-Ruddock Mpanzu saw Town fall just short in their bid to snatch an unlikely point. To find out how the visitors rated on the afternoon, see below.
5. Kal Naismith: 5.5
One of his first touches saw the ball in the back of his own net, glancing a header beyond Sluga. Like all of Town’s back-line, struggled greatly when the Baggies launched a set-piece into the area, too often overpowered aerially.
6. Allan Campbell: 6.5
Plenty of chasing in the first half when he was also booked, as the Baggies controlled things. Good pressing led to Luton halving the deficit, his block falling for Cornick, but was then immediately substituted as he looked to be getting going.
7. Jordan Clark: 6
A tough start saw Clark drop into a right wingback position as the visitors were up against it for the opening 45 minutes. Sickening whack to the head after going up to try and beat Johnstone to the ball ended his afternoon, but thankfully all is okay.
8. Pelly-Ruddock Mpanzu: 5.5
Unable to mark his wonderful milestone of 300 games with the win he wanted as passing was awry at times, particularly first half. Showed good energy to keep going, following up Cornick’s shot to make it 3-2 and give Town some late hope.
