With the Championship campaign beginning this evening, then it's time to predict just how the final table could look in May. Who will come out on top? Will the Hatters finish higher than last season's position of 19th? And who will go down? See below to find out how the Luton News Hatters' reporter Mike Simmonds thinks it will end.
5. Bournemouth
Will need significant investment after losing Ake, Ramsdale, Wilson and Fraser, with more possibly still going. Those funds plus the parachute payment should see the Cherries have enough to make the top six at least.
6. Cardiff City
Edged out in the play-offs by Fulham last season and have bolstered their striking options over the summer, acquiring Kieffer Moore from Wigan, plus Sheyi Ojo from Liverpool as they might just miss out.
7. Swansea City
Drew too many games on their travels last term, but still made the play-offs after blitzing Reading on the final day. Steve Cooper's side should make a more concerted push this time, although will miss Brewster's goals.
8. Bristol City
Finished in mid-table, a disappointing position after early stages of the season promised so much. Added valuable experience in Chris Brunt and Chris Martin to try and prevent that reoccurring this time.
